PowerDVD Problems

PowerDVD Problems

After installing PowerDVD 6.x, you double click on the program icon and nothing happens. The program is loaded into memory according to Task Manager, but it just doesn't come up.

The problem is likely to be with Windows Defender or CounterSpy, which uses the same core "engine" in its code. Unload whichever one you're using and PowerDVD 6 should come up just fine. After doing this once, neither product seems to interfere with PowerDVD 6's running fine.

With PowerDVD 5 & 6, when you attempt to play a movie, the screen comes up black. Chances are you're using ObjectDock or ObjectDock Plus from Stardock Systems. Close ObjectDock and restart PowerDVD, and a normal picture should appear.

You can also look out on the Web for a program called Docktool, which gives you the ability to unload Objectdock.and then run PowerDVD by a single click of your mouse.
